British Values

British Values at the Willows School

At The Willows ‘British Values’ permeates through and is embedded in the school’s curriculum and supports the development of the ‘whole child’. Our aim is to nurture our children on their journey through life so they can grow into safe, caring, democratic, responsible and tolerant adults who make a positive difference to modern Britain.

In accordance with The Department for Education we aim to actively support the values of democracy, rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect and tolerance of different faiths and beliefs and these are supported by the Picture News resource which addresses current issues and events. These values are linked in our own school ‘I can…’ motto promoting respect, confidence, ambition, creativity, determination and enthusiasm and provide an environment which promotes kindness and caring to one another.

As well as promoting British Values, we actively challenge pupils, staff or parents expressing opinions contrary to the fundamental British values, including ‘extremist’ views and principles. All Willows staff receive annual Prevent training and are kept up to date with any new guidelines.
